Charities the winner at gala ball

once again, the style at the this year’s Portarlington Gala Ball was breathtaking with celebrity solicitor Gerald Keane and his partner Lisa Murphy leading the way.

MC Keane welcomed everyone to The Heritage Hotel and Spa Resort, Killenard and was gob smacked with the tremendous turnout he complimented Maria Molloy, Marie Corcoran and Collette Kennedy on all hard work they have done over the years.

Approximately €10,000 on the night which will be split equally between this year’s chosen charities - St Frances Special School Portlaoise and Portarlington Lourdes Invalid fund.

Joe Farrell spoke on behalf of the Portlaoise School and outlined their plan for the donation.

The funds raised will go towards helping them with two programmes which they would like to run over the next year and a half . The first is build-a-bike and the second is a music programme.

While, Marie Corcoran spoke on behalf of the Portarlington charity which raises funds to send approximately eight people to Lourdes each year. The trip costs around E800 per person.

Former international rugby star, Shane Byrne and his lovely wife Caroline also attended the ball, as did Lisa Murphy’s parents, Eileen and Des Murphy.

“Keith Mc Donald was outstanding and guests danced the night away in the beautiful surroundings of the Heritage Golf and Spa Resort,” Maria said. Adding: “The meal was brilliant and the wine was not spared.”

The three ladies thanked all the people of Portarlington and sourrounding area for all their support and said they look forward to next year.
