Waste by-laws criticised

NEW by-laws which mean that waste has to be put in bins rather than bags are having a severe impact in Birr, Monday’s meeting of Offaly County Council heard.

NEW by-laws which mean that waste has to be put in bins rather than bags are having a severe impact in Birr, Monday’s meeting of Offaly County Council heard.

Councillor Peter Ormond wanted the matter reconsidered and was supported by other members.

Mr Sean Murray, Director of Services, said that the matter could be reconsidered by the Environment SPC. Councillor John Carroll proposed that the company enforcing the regulations should be asked to refrain from doing so until a decision was taken.
