MORE burial spaces are needed in St Mary’s Cemetery, Edenderry, Cllr Noel Bourke told Monday’s meeting of Offaly County Council.
Cllr Connie Hanniffy welcomed plans to curb the purchase of burial plots by people with no local connections, as happened in Clonmacnois after the visit of Pope John Paul.
Cllr John Carroll expressed fears that there might be limitations on neighbours preparing graves (as opposed to professional grave diggers), but Mr Sean Murray, Director of Services, assured him that this was not the case.
