Ceol and scannáin sa leabharlann

DAINGEAN Library hosted a Seisíun sa Leabharlann, night of music, song and dance recently to launch Seachtain na Gaeilge activities throughout Offaly Libraries.

DAINGEAN Library hosted a Seisíun sa Leabharlann, night of music, song and dance recently to launch Seachtain na Gaeilge activities throughout Offaly Libraries.

Musicians Shauna McGarrigle and Patricia Colgan entertained the locals with traditional music. Rose Fox, Shauna Mc Garrigle and Anne Corcoran captivated the audience with their beautiful voices singing traditional Irish melodies including Maid of Killeigh, Eanath Chuain and May Morning Due.  

Seachtain na Gaeilge runs until March 18 and there are many activities in all the libraries. The theme in Offaly libraries this year is “Ceol Agus Scannáin sa Leabharlann. Libraries around the county will have music and will be showing films during Seachtain na Gaeilge. Some libraries are also holding Irish conversation classes.

Edenderry Library will host conversational classes for adults tonight (Wednesday) and Tullamore will host them tonight (Wednesday) and Friday March 18 from 4pm to 5pm.

Edenderry Library will also host a “cupan tae agus scannáin sa leabharlann” showing “Yu Ming is ainm dom” tonight (Wednesday).

Meanwhile at Clara Library today (Wednesday) Clara Library will show “The Field” at 10.30am and “Iníon na Fiaclóira, Tubberware at 11am on Friday March 18.
