Woman in Offaly fined for passenger not wearing a seat belt

An Offaly woman was convicted and fined for a passenger, under the age of 17, not wearing a seat belt during the March 15 sitting of Tullamore Court. 

Charlene Grogan, Number 13, Grove St, Birr was stopped at Columcille Street, Puttaghan, Tullamore on August 19, 2022 and charged with failing to ensure a passenger under 17 wears a safety belt.

Ms Grogan told the court that she didn’t realise the child in her car had removed his seat belt until she was told by the Garda.

The court was told that the child was “standing up in the car and waving at the Guards.” 

Judge Andrew Cody convicted and fined €100.
