Met Éireann weather forecast for the Bank Holiday Weekend
Met Éireann is forecasting a dry and cold weekend with overnight frosts and some icy patches as temperatures plummet.
In their latest forecast, they say, Friday night will be cold and breezy with a lot of dry clear weather, but a few rain or hail showers also. Lowest temperatures zero to plus 2 C., with some frost and icy patches in places, despite the wind.
SATURDAY 27TH OCTOBER
Another cold, breezy day in store, despite some decent sunny spells. A few rain or hail showers, but mostly dry. Top temperatures only 7 or 8 C and feeling colder in the fresh and gusty north to northwest breeze. North to northeasterly winds will moderate considerably overnight, falling light inland and the showers will become increasingly confined to coastal margins, where onshore breezes persist. Largely clear skies will see temperatures between - 3 to plus 2 degrees, with a widespread frost forming and some icy patches.
SUNDAY 28TH OCTOBER
Most parts dry and fine with good sunshine, after a frosty start. A few showers will drift into eastern coastal districts, due to the light onshore northeast breeze. Top temperatures of 7 to 10 C., but not feeling as cold as previous days, due to more prolonged sunshine and mainly light breezes. Temperatures will drop away fairly quickly after dark, with frost forming in the clear, near calm conditions and some icy patches are expected. However, increasing cloud from the Atlantic will see temperatures rising in Atlantic coastal areas towards dawn. Minima of minus 2 to plus 2 C. Light winds becoming southeasterly by dawn. Risk of a few mist patches.
MONDAY 29TH OCTOBER
At present, Bank Holiday Monday looks like being dry and bright for most places. Early frost and ice clearing. But Atlantic coastal counties look set to be breezy, cloudy and misty, with a risk of some light rain at times there. But some sunny spells should develop elsewhere. Highs of 7 to 10 C., in moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, which may increase strongly along Atlantic coasts. Dry in most places overnight and cold, with frost and a risk of some icy patches.
TUESDAY 30TH OCTOBER
Cool and bright with scattered showers, some sunny spells but highs of just 8 to 10 C., in moderate northerly or northeasterly winds.
