Offaly forecaster gives weekend weather update
Cathal Nolan from the Midland Weather Channel has predicted an overcast and mixed weekend.
On Saturday, the Offaly meteorologist is expecting bright and sunny spells across all areas of the country in the morning, with any overnight ground frost clearing away rather quickly.
"Sunny spells will continue for a large part of Saturday, though cloud will increase from the north during the late afternoon and evening as a weak weather front approaches. Afternoon highs on Saturday of between 12-15 degrees Celsius, with light northwesterly winds throughout. Frost is unlikely on Saturday night due to cloudy skies," Cathal added.
He says Sunday will begin rather overcast with "low cloud and a risk of some mist also, especially in northern and eastern areas."
"During the afternoon sunny spells will develop from the northwest as a weak weather system continues to clear away southeastwards. Feeling cold on Sunday with afternoon temperatures no higher than 10 or 12 degrees Celsius at best in a light northerly breeze. Frost is likely in some areas on Sunday night under clearing skies," Cathal concluded.
