More snow will fall in Ireland today than at the South Pole

Weather conditions are worse today in Ireland than they are at the South Pole. 

As this picture from the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station taken from the roof of the National Science Foundation's Atmospheric Research Observatory today shows, while the temperature is colder, it is a calm, sunny day at the South Pole compared to the blizzard like conditions hitting Ireland.
