Polar air brings snow, ice and sunshine!
Snow, ice and long sunny spells feature in today's weather as a Met Eireann Weather Warning has been extended until 6am tomorrow with the polar front set to dominate until Tuesday.
The forecaster says there will be sunny spells and widespread snow and sleet showers today. It says some of the showers will be heavy with hail and thunder also. Much of the snow that fell overnight has thawed however some remains in sheltered areas.
Accumulations of snow are expected, especially over high ground in the north and west of Ireland. A Met Éireann Status Yellow Weather Warning remains in force until 6am on Monday morning.
The showers will become less frequent this evening and tonight. Cold and frosty with lowest temperatures of -2 to 0 degrees.
It will be another cold, bright and sunny day tomorrow with isolated showers. Highest temperatures will be between 6 or 7 degrees. Heavy rain will arrive from the west during the latter part of the evening.
