They are set to appear at Tullamore Circuit Court in March
TWO man charged with being in possession of drugs for sale or supply were sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Tullamore Circuit Court when they appeared at this week's district court.
Aaron Holt (25) of Castleview Park, Edenderry, and Shane O'Neill (24) of The Sycamores, Edenderry are both charged with being in possession of the controlled drug diamorphine for the purposes of supplying or otherwise selling to another in contravention of the misuse of drugs act, on May 8, 2024. At the time the drug was in their possession the market value was €13,000 or more
Mr Holt is also charged with being unlawfully in possession of cannabis for the purposes of selling or otherwise supplying to another on May 9 at the same address
Sergeant Brendan Kearns served Aaron Holt and Shane O'Neill with separate books of evidence at last week's Tullamore district court.
The Sergeant told Judge Cody that the DPP had directed that both defendants can be sent forward on a signed plea. Judge Andrew Cody issued the alibi warning to both men, telling them that if they intended to call an alibi then they must notify the prosecution within 14 days of last week's court date.
Gardai had objected to bail in the case of Aaron Holt. Judge Andrew Cody gave consent to bail on the defendant's own bond of €500, independent surety of €5,000. A cash lodgement of €10,000 is to be lodged in lieu of surety.
Judge Cody imposed a number of bail conditions. Mr Holt is not to commit any offence and be of good behaviour, he is to be of sober habits, he is not to take alcohol, he is to reside at the above address, maintain a curfew between 6pm each evening and 9am the following morning. He is to answer the door and be available to members of the garda siochana and provide gardai with any mobile phone numbers. He is to have no contact with co-defendant Shane O'Neill, surrender his passport and seek approval from gardai for any subsequent changes to his address
Similar conditions were imposed on Mr O'Neill who was remanded on bail on his own bond of €100.
