Results of analysis awaited after Offaly suspected drugs find

Man has been in custody since November on cannabis charges
GARDAI are awaiting the results of analysis of a suspected drugs seizure in Clara in November.
A man has been in custody since November 6 last following the discovery of suspected cannabis at the Good Days premises, River Street, Clara on November 4.
Hai Huy Tran, aged 52 and with an address at River Street, Clara, appeared before Tullamore District Court by video link.
The proceedings were translated for Mr Tran by a Vietnamese interpreter.
Sergeant Brendan Kearns told Judge Andrew Cody that he was waiting for a certificate of analysis in relation to the substance found and because of that directions were not yet forthcoming from the DPP.
Judge Cody noted the length of time Mr Tran had already been in custody and said he would consider a bail application on March 6 next, if one comes before the court.
The accused's solicitor, Donal Farrelly, said his client was in Ireland in difficult circumstances and it was unlikely there would be a bail application.
However, he asked that the matter be peremptory against the state on the next occasion if a book of evidence was not ready.
Judge Cody ordered that Mr Tran come before the court again on February 7 in advance of another appearance on March 6 and said the adjournment would be peremptory against the state.
In addition to a charge of possessing cannabis, Mr Tran is accused of possessing the drug for sale or supply to others.
If the prosecution is ready to go ahead the book of evidence will be served and Mr Tran is likely to be sent to the next sitting of Tullamore Circuit Court which begins on Tuesday, March 19.
