Coming soon a Midland Festival like no other Litha is a Midlands Cultural and Musical Festival supported by Offaly County Council.

Organised by local community groups, the festival will be centred in Clara, the centre of the peatland community, on June 24 from 2pm to 8pm.

Litha “The Festival of Summer Light” will be held on Clara’s majestic Fair Green, where Shane Lowry and Brian Cowen were welcomed home.

Litha will be a family fun day, with lots of nature activities for the children, a kid’s disco, and a children’s carnival.

There will be an exhibition of the bog through the ages, food & craft markets, to name just a few of the family activities.

The Scouting Community, accompanied by the Town Band, will commence the Summer Solstice Lighting Ceremony at 5pm.

There is a great music lineup scheduled to play, including Rahan Comhaltas, Simon Casey, Alex Roe, Ruaile Buaile, and many more.

No booking and no payment required. This is a free family festival. Just come and enjoy the fun in the centre of Clara.

A big thank you to Cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council Cllr. Frank Moran for securing funding and to Offaly County Council for their ongoing support to the peatland communities and to Clara.

For those who wish to stay the weekend, the Bog Trotters Weekend runs simultaneously in Clara House & Domain, supported by The Community Wetland Forum. Tickets and schedules for the Bog Trotters Weekend are available on Eventbrite.

For travel to and from the event please don’t forget that Clara has a well serviced train station, town link bus route and public bus transport which will bring you straight to the event, so for those who wish to leave the car behind there are plenty of ways that will take you right there.

Litha is a Midland’s Festival for all age groups, celebrating our unique peatland landscape with family fun activities, food, crafts, and music!

If you wear your quirky wellies, you might even win a quirky prize.

Don’t miss this free event, Litha Clara Saturday June 24th.

If you wish to take a market-stall please contact [email protected] or Clara Chamber of Commerce asap as places are filling up. Any peatland community wishing to exhibit at the festival please contact Clara Heritage Society.
