Offaly hurler's assault charge adjourned

Kilcormac-Killoughey hurler Cathal Kiely has been accused of assault

AN assault charge against a Kilcormac hurler has been adjourned to December 21.

Cathal Kiely (21), St Cormac's Park, Kilcormac is accused of assaulting Artur Rugkowski, causing him harm, at the Midland Bar, Kilcormac on March 19 last.

The case is now before Tullamore Circuit Criminal Court and Stephen Byrne, BL, for Mr Kiely, told Judge Keenan Johnson this morning (Tuesday, December 6) that he needed to look at evidence against the accused.

Judge Johnson remanded Mr Kiely on bail to appear before him again on December 21.

Mr Kiely had previously been sent forward for trial on his own bail. He was granted legal aid and solicitor Donal Farrelly was assigned.
