A RESIDENTIAL development has got the green light in Daingean.

Offaly County Council has granted permission for the renovation of a cottage on Main Street in the town and the construction of four new houses at its rear on Gaol Lane.

The consent was granted on November 3 to Arvin Savage who sought permission for renovation and alterations of an existing derelict dwelling on Main Street.

The application also involved four new two-bedroom single storey semi-detached houses which will be accessed via Gaol Lane, which is between the cottage and the library on Main Street.
