The late Anne Casey (nee Bracken)
READY members and friends have paid tribute to the late Anne Casey who sadly passed away on Sunday August 17.
At the group's last social meeting candles were lit for Anne and two other members who died recently May Harte and Pat Butler.
Barry La Combre remembered Anne Bracken, who was the READY Secretary in its formative years.
''Anne was the light and joy of our group, and travelled the length and breadth of the country with us,'' said PRO Phil Newton.
''In those early days Tommy’s Bus would take off early on a Sunday morning, with stops for breakfast, lunch and tea. I do recall Anne’s breakfast being light, a mug of coffee and a cigarette……..and boy, did that morning cigarette go to her heart,'' recalls Phil.
''Anyone who remembers Anne, will recall her sense of fun and adventure. She was sparkling, lively, engaging, bringing positive energies to our many social outings in those bygone days of the 80s.
Anne was full of good humour, amazing at telling jokes, making everyone laugh at her unique take on love, life and living. As our Secretary, she recorded our adventures in a kind chirpy manner.
Anne knew how to make great conversation, and could draw people in ensuring that all enjoyed the banter. I have no doubt that the Gods have a plan for Anne’s unique outlook on life. Earth is missing an angel – heaven has gained an unimaginable force for light and goodness.
Anne ascended peacefully in the wonderful care of her family and the Palliative Care Team. READY Organisation extend our sincere sympathy to her husband Tony, her daughter Laura, son in law Corey, her granddaughters Elown and Merryn, to her sister Caroline, to her brothers P.J., Michael and Vincent, to everyone who experienced the joy of knowing her, and to all who love her and are missing her today.''
Anne worked for many years in the HSE. Colleagues expressed their sympathies:
''Fond memories of working with Anne. She was always so pleasant and kind. May her soul rest in peace.''
''So sad to hear of Anne's passing, Anne was such a lovely, happy & helpful lady.''
''Deepest condolences to all of Anne’s family. It was so lovely to work with Anne over the last couple of years. May she rest in peace. ''
''She was a real lady May her gentle soul rest in peace.''
Anne's Cremation Service took place in Newlands Cross Crematorium, Dublin.
