Invitation to a celebration of heritage community and landscape in Offaly

AN invitation to celebrate our local heritage, community and landscape together with a unique opportunity to come together in creative reflection and collective action for Lemanaghan is being extended to everyone.

This special event will take place on Saturday, August 23 and will celebrate all that is good and wholesome in our environment.

The day will involve:

A guided walk along the Sli Mór with Dr. Ellen O'Carroll (UCD)

A family-friendly kite-flying demonstration featuring 15 artist-designed kites representing archaeological finds from Lemanaghan Bog, brought to you by international artists DeepTime Agency.

Inspiring talks and conversations lead by Dr Benjaman Geary (UCC) at the Granary, St. Manchans Church, Boher, Ballycumber, Co. Offaly

And the unveiling of new interpretive panels on St. Manchan’s Shrine with artist Kevin O’Dwyer.

The event is in collaboration with the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland, Irish Peatland Archaeology Across Time, Deeptime Agency, and the Lemanaghan Bog Heritage & Conservation Group.

There will also be plenty of tea and chats. The day begins at noon at people will gather at the level crossisng on the R436 Lemanaghan Bog.
