Towards Boland’s Lock” book launch will take place this Wednesday, July 3, at 7.30pm in Esker Art Centre, Tullamore.  All are welcome to attend.

The book is a collaborative piece that takes the reader on a meander through Tullamore and its surrounding areas as seen and presented through the eyes of writer Geraldine O’Neill, visual artist Siobhan McCormack and photographer Paul Moore.

It’s a collection of fictional short stories, poetry and Haiku’s by Geraldine O’Neill, which are enhanced by the paintings of the surrounding landscapes and wildlife of Siobhan McCormack and the local landmark photography of Paul Moore.

The book was inspired by an artistic project involving artists from Tullamore, Offaly and Chandler, Arizona.

The title of the exhibition is ‘Ceangal’, which translates to ‘Connections’ from Irish to English.

The exhibition itself will be an art collaboration between four artists from Tullamore, Offaly and four artists from Chandler, Arizona.

The official opening of the ‘Ceangal’ Exhibition will take place on July 26 at 7pm in Esker Arts Centre, Tullamore.

Towards Boland's Lock is a lovely, unique book inspired by the landmarks in Tullamore Town.

Said Geraldine O'Neill: "It's very different from my usual published novels, but I very much enjoyed writing the poetry, and traditional and contemporary fiction set in places such as Charleville Castle and the Bridge House. The stories are also set in different periods of time from Tullamore in the 1870's, one focussed on the pandemic, and another two in present time. Having my writing illustrated in both art and photography elevates it into a book that has something for everyone.”
