DAINGEAN

Dinner Dance

Daingean GAA are delighted to announce that tickets for our 2024 Dinner Dance are now on sale.

This will be a huge night for the club as we celebrate our Championship and League winning teams of 2023.

The Dinner Dance takes place on Saturday, March 2nd in the Tullamore Court Hotel. Tickets will only be available to purchase online.

Lotto

The winning numbers drawn on Monday February 12 were: 4, 9, 10, 23. There was no winner of our Jackpot and there were four match 3 winners: Chris Delaney (c/o online), Vanessa Connolly (c/o online), Catherine Mulready (c/o online) and Laura Spollen (c/o online) All match 3’s share €200. Inter-County Teams

Commissions to the Offaly footballers who lost out narrowly to Clare on Sunday last. They face Down on Saturday evening at 6pm in Newry. The Offaly hurlers are back in action on Sunday as they face Kilkenny at 1:45pm in Nowlan Park. Best of luck to both teams.

Every Step Counts Challenge

Well done to all of our members who put their shoulder to the wheel for the club to get us over the line in the Irish Life steps challenge which concluded last week. The club finished in 91st position in Leinster with an impressive 9,500km clocked up in steps.

Offaly Senior Football

Hard luck to the Offaly Senior football team last weekend on a narrow defeat to Clare. Well done to our own clubmen Jack O’Brien, Kevin McDermott and Dan Wyer who are on the panel for this year. Best of luck to the lads.

Offaly Senior Hurlers

The Offaly Senior hurlers had a hard fought draw v Wexford last weekend week and great to see the lads from Durrow representing the county hurlers. Best of luck to Mark Troy, Ciaran Burke, Brian Duignan, Dan & Sam Bourke for the year ahead. Also hope to see Ross & Dan Ravenhill back soon after injury.

Progressive 25 Card Game

The weekly card game continues every Wednesday night in Durrow Hall and the first deal is at 9pm. All are welcome to come along.

Durrow Ceili Club

The next Ceili takes place on Sunday 3rd March in Durrow Hall from 4pm-7pm. Music by Ui Bhriain Ceili Band.

Ceili and set dancing classes take place every Tuesday night in Durrow Hall at 8pm and new members always welcome.

EDENDERRY

Bingo

Our Edenderry GAA Online Bingo takes place this Saturday night at 8pm with a prizefund of up to €11,350 up for grabs with a guaranteed payout of €4450 on the night.

The new Jackpot Game (Game 7) was not won last week so next Saturday night the Jackpot will be €7,300 in 45 numbers or less (€300 Full House if not won).

Ród Óg Warriors Nursery Workshop

Rhode GAA & LGFA will host a nursery workshop for coaches and parents of children eligible for The Warriors this Thursday 22nd February in Rhode GAA Hall at 8pm.Ród Óg Warriors caters for boys and girls born in 2018 & 2019.Offaly GAA Nursery Co-Ordinator Imelda Coughlan & Ród Óg & LGFA GPO Enda Dunne will be in attendance. All are welcome to attend this very worthwhile workshop in advance of the return of The Warriors in April 2024.

Ireland Lights Up /Rhode GAA Walking Track

Rhode GAA are taking part in this years’ hugely popular “Ireland Lights Up '' initiative in participation with Operation Transformation. All members/ Supporters are invited to take part to help kickstart a healthy New Year.

Kicked Off Tuesday, 9th January and ends this week Tuesday 2oth February 7-9pm final night Thursday, 22nd February from 7pm – 8pm with Tea and chat from 8pm to 9pm at Rhode GAA Walking Track.

Rhode GAA/Rhode LGFA Membership is now open and we urge all members if possible to follow the online option of registration/payment system https://www.foireann.i

The foireann system can also be used by players and non-players to register and pay online as a member of Rhode GAA and LGFA clubs. The deadline for general membership is March 31st ./ Ladies Deadline is the same

Offaly Senior Footballers

Hard luck to Offaly Senior footballers who had a gut punching defeat to Clare on Sunday last in Tullamore. Which leaves them under pressure in the league . Hopefully they can continue the fight back for their final games.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

We are very honoured to have Mrs Mary Leavy as Rhode’s Grand Marshal for our 2024 St Patrick’s Day Parade.

Preparations are well underway to ensure that this year’s parade is as big, successful and memorable as our previous parades. It commences again from the roundabout at ESB road at 10am, Sunday, March 17th.

The Rhode GAA Lotto Jackpot was €19,400 and it took place on the 12th of January in Killeens.

Lidl Comortas Peile Paidi O’Se 2024

Ballycumber players and supporters will travel to Dingle, Co. Kerry on Friday to take part in the Paidi O’Se Tournament. The team will play against either Lispole, Kerry, Newry Shamrocks, Down or Cretyard, Laois on Saturday and afterwards enjoy the hospitality that the area is famous for. We wish all travelling a safe trip.

Pat Kelly & family benefit fund

The concert in aid of the fund was a marvellous success on Saturday evening in Ballycumber Community Centre. Many thanks to everyone who contributed in any way.

GAA National Club Draw 2024

Tubber Tidy Villages

The current committee of Tubber Tidy Village will be disbanded on Monday 26th February 2024.

National Club Draw 2024

Time is running out to secure your entries into the 2024 GAA National Club Draw. All our allocated club tickets must be returned by Sunday 3rd March. Draw takes place on 27th March for some great prizes, including a Dacia Sandero car, a €10,000 cash prize and a range of All Ireland Hurling and Football Final Packages. KILBEGGAN SHAMROCKS

League commences

We begin our 2024 campaign with a short trip to Streamstown to face St Joseph’s on their new pitch in Division 3 of the All-County League this Saturday, February 24 at 2pm.

That will be followed by a home game against St Loman’s, Mullingar on Saturday week, March 2, also at 2pm.

All players must have membership in order to train, play matches or use our facilities. Payment can be made through our system on ClubZap.

Dinner Dance

Over 200 guests are expected to attend our dinner dance which takes place this Saturday night, February 24 in the Tullamore Court Hotel and will be hosted by Rory O’Connor of Rory’s Stories fame.

Starting with a drinks’ reception at 5.30pm, there will be a three-course meal followed by the presentation of JFC medals and music by The Lols with a DJ afterwards. A great night is in store!

New scoreboard

A new electronic scoreboard has been successfully installed by FSL Scoreboards at MJS Builds St James’ Park.

The scoreboard is a welcome addition to our facilities and would not have been possible with the support of Dawn Meats Group, KMK Metals Recycling, McNamara’s Bar & Lounge and Rebuild or the work of Kelly Ann Mealiffe in securing the sponsorship.

Last Man Standing

A further four people have been eliminated from our Last Man Standing National League competition after London’s surprise draw with Tipperary last Sunday.

It means just 21 out of 135 entrants have made it through to Week 5. Next week is a double week of football and hurling. Those still in the reckoning will receive instructions by email.

Sympathy

We extend our deepest sympathy to the Sisters of Mercy and the Beirne family, Kilmore, Co. Roscommon on the passing of Sr Sacred Heart last week.

A pillar of the local community for over 50 years, Sr Sacred Heart was a sincere, kind, friendly, intelligent and deeply religious woman who endeared herself to everyone who knew her. May she rest in peace.

The Spring League continues in the GAA field for children from Junior infants up to 6th Class starting

St. Brigid’s Day Mass

St. Brigid’s Day was celebrated with a beautiful Mass in Croghan Church and a reception was held afterwards in the newly refurbished Croghan Community Centre to commemorate 40 years since the club won the 1984 St. Brigid’s Intermediate Championship. A great night was had by all.

Trip to Dubai

Ciaran McGivern and Linda Kennedy, Croghan would like to thank the Club for their recent wonderful trip to sunny Dubai which they won last summer as part of the St. Brigid’s GAA Fundraising Draw. A great time was had by both.

Shamrocks GAA are hosting a table quiz in The Thatch Rahan on February 23rd at 8.30pm. Get your teams together for what is going to be a very enjoyable evening. All support is greatly appreciated.

Pat-Joe Kelly Tournament

The Pat-Joe Kelly Tournament concluded on Saturday evening with the white team claiming the title. This new annual event has been a great start to the year for the Footballers and even though it was in-house competition the intensity was high and there was no holding back, which is good to see at this stage in the year. Congratulations to Eoghan Neville who was chosen as Player of the Tournament, a prize which was sponsored by Ian O’Brien. Eoghan is a talented young player who truly deserved the award. Eoghan along with the winning team were presented with their awards on Saturday evening in Kelly’s roadhouse. A great evening was had by all as the 2023 Division 5 Football winners were also presented with their medals by Barry Mooney: former Shamrocks player and Offaly Captain. Huge thanks to Padraic and all at Kelly’s Roadhouse for a great night.

Strength and Conditioning

The U13, U15 & U17 players are currently into week 6 of their Strength and Conditioning Training on Monday evenings. Coaches are extremely happy with the numbers attending each week and wish to thank both players and parents for their commitment and effort. Huge thank you to the coaches for facilitating a great program for our underage players in the club.

Local elections

Our Chairman Ollie Bryant is running for local election in the upcoming county council elections. We wish him all the best with his campaign.

As most teams have returned to play or are soon to be returning, it is important that membership is paid before participating in any training or matches. Members, old and new, are being asked to pay their membership via the Clubforce App. If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact any member of the committee or any of the coaches. Safeguarding

Shamrocks GAA are running a Safeguarding 1 Course in Mucklagh Community Centre on Monday 4th March from 7-9pm. Assistance with Garda Vetting will be provided on the night also. To confirm your attendance or if you have any queries please contact the club Child Welfare Officer, Olivia Egan.

Clara GAA and Clara LGFA Joint Statement

Clara GAA Club and Clara LGFA are committed to working together under Croke Parks recently published 'One Club' guidelines to provide the best possible environment for our young girls and boys, adult players and club members. As an initial step towards the 'One Club' model, we have agreed to collaborate and work together in the following areas: A Joint Nursery initiative, The Inaugural Clara All Stars programme (Easter 2024), Facilities Development and Social Media.

We're are also very excited to introduce a special initiative designed for children with ASD or additional needs. The Clara GAA All Stars! Dinner Dance

A great night was had at our Dinner Dance in the Tullamore Court Hotel on Saturday night last. Congratulations to our Senior A & Senior B hurlers, Junior Footballers and the 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 U20 hurlers who were presented with their county championships medals. We were delighted to be joined on the night by our guests of honour legendary former Kilkenny manager, Brian Cody and Offaly GAA Chairman Michael Duignan & his wife Aisling. Special thanks to our players and managements and to Michael & Brian for their great words of encouragement on the night. Thank you to Joe Slevin who did the MC duties and to all our guests who attended on the night. Thank you to the Tullamore Court Hotel for their excellent food and hospitality on the night and to The Secrets & DJ Lloyd Bracken who kept everyone dancing and entertained into the early hours.

Kilcormac Killoughey ‘Ireland Lights Up’

We hosted our walking groups for the last night of Ireland’s Lights Up last Tuesday evening. Thanks to everyone who turned up for the last 6 weeks of 'Ireland Lights Up'. The Community Walking Track at our pitches in Kilcormac is open for use every day and we are delighted to see so many people making use of it on a daily basis. The gates of the carpark are open from 9am to 9pm each day also to allow safe parking for all those using the walking track.

Junior Hurling All Ireland Semi-Final

The Junior Hurlers bowed out of the All Ireland Junior B Series to Drum and Inch of Tipperary on a score line of 0-17 to 1-06. It has been a great campaign. Well done to the management team led by Joe Errity and the team captained by Aaron Coffey.

The winner of round four of the League Forecast was Jessica Whelehan with a score of 25 points out of a possible 26 points. Congratulations Jessica.
