New season of music classes begins at leading Offaly Comhaltas branch

A new season of music classes in Ballyboy began on Friday last.

There are still spaces in the Guitar, Singing and Storytelling classes. Ballyboy CCE are also keen to begin classes on Uileann Pipes and Drums if the interest is there.

Comhaltas is a very important part of the fabric of rural life in Ireland and is a masterful addition to social and family life of all its members.

There is a strong history of music, song and dance in Ballyboy and from very humble beginnings the branch has been built up to be one of the largest and progressive Comhaltas branches in the Midlands.

A small hard working and dedicated committee rose to the task of organising all our activities and promoting Comhaltas through the local area and beyond.

Ballyboy CCE would like to express a huge debt of gratitude to all the people who joined them and helped along the way.

Comhaltas branches and the whole world have changed immensely over the years but the joy and happiness created by the meeting of your neighbours and friends for enjoyable evenings of music, song and dance is still as invigorating as ever.

Ballyboy CCEare always open to new members regardless if you play music or not, the benefits of being a member of the Comhaltas Branch cannot be underestimated, from the friendships formed and the skills acquired to a sense of purpose at being a part of a very successful and progressive local voluntary group and a job well done.
