This is a Lidl payment not someone on social welfare, said Judge Cody.
JUDGE Andrew Cody said he was ''astonished'' that Lidl hadn't made a charitable donation in relation to a case which involved them selling certain items during Covid.
Liviu Vintu (52) Grouse Lodge, Monavane, Enaghan, Walsh Island, had appeared in court in relation to the offences which took place on January 24, 2021, at Lidl Main Street, Tullamore, when the supermarket had on sale ski gloves, over trousers and various sports garments which were in contravention of regulations and contrary to a section of the health act.
Judge Andrew Cody had directed that Lidl should make a charitable donation.
Sgt Richard Thornton said they were to pay over a sum of money but it wouldn't be ready until August 1.
This is a Lidl payment not someone on social welfare, said Judge Cody. He said Mr Liviu Vintu, had been forced to sell certain goods during Covid. The judge said at the time he had directed that if a charitable donation was made then he would strike out the matter.
He adjourned the case to September 6 next for the donation to be made and said he would re-enter the case if the money was not donated.
