A special supplement is being published to mark 50 years since Ireland joined the EU
A SPECIAL supplement to highlight the local impact of Ireland's membership of the European Union over the past 50 years will be published in the Midland and Tullamore Tribune on Wednesday, May 10 next.
It will also be published in digital format on offalylive.ie on Saturday, May 6 to coincide with Europe Day.
The supplement is a partnership between Offaly County Council and the Tribune with assistance from Offaly History Society.
The Tribune is now issuing an appeal to readers to submit articles and viewpoints on the impact of Europe on their lives.
Articles can be emailed to editor@tullamoretribune.ie or editor@midlandtribune.ie on or before Friday week next, April 28 or sent by post to the Tullamore Tribune, William St, Tullamore or the Midland Tribune, Connaught St, Birr.
The supplement will also feature opinion pieces from and interviews with prominent members of the community, representatives of statutory bodies, farming groups and politicians.
Offaly History Society has also provided a series of articles from the Tribune's archives looking back on the area's relationship with the EEC, EC and EU over the past half century.
