Kilcormac woman stole groceries from Tullamore supermarket

A Kilcormac woman was convicted of stealing groceries from a Tullamore supermarket during last week's Tullamore Court sitting.

Roseanne McDonagh, 17 Meadowlands, Kilcormac was charged with stealing groceries worth €73.49 from Lidl, Church Road, Tullamore on December the 23rd, 2023.

Ms McDonagh pleaded guilty. She had 28 previous convictions, including 27 convictions for road traffic matters and one for drugs possession. There had been seven bench warrants for her arrest.

The defending solicitor Patrick Martin pointed out that his client's mother passed away in 2018 “which meant she lost her accommodation and became homeless for a time."

"During this period she was living in her car and it was during this time that she got her road traffic convictions. She has four children. She apologises for this matter. She is not working at the moment.”

Judge Andrew Cody convicted and sentenced to four months imprisonment, suspending it for two years.
