Offaly's relegation showdown with Carlow fixed for Sunday

Offaly's crucial Allianz Hurling League Division 1B relegation play-off against Carlow has been fixed for Sunday, March 10 at 2pm.

The game will take place at Bord na Mona O'Connor Park after Offaly secured home advantage by beating the same opposition in their final regular season game last weekend.

Offaly won out on a 4-8 to 1-10 scoreline, putting them in pole position to hold onto their Division 1B status against Carlow, the team that will effectively replace the Faithful in this summer's Leinster championship.

Offaly lost their championship status last year and will ply their trade in the Joe McDonagh Cup in 2019.

Kevin Martin's men have endured a difficult winter in Division 1B, slumping to defeats against Dublin, Waterford, Galway, and most crucially, neighbours Laois.

Carlow failed to pick up a win in Division 1B but secured draws against Laois and Galway to finished above Offaly in the regular season table.

The losers of Sunday's relegation play-off will drop into Division 2A which is currently occupied by Kerry, Westmeath, Meath, Antrim, Mayo and London.

Offaly v Carlow throws in at 2pm at Bord na Mona O'Connor Park on Sunday, March 10.
