Shane Lowry put in a superb battling performance on the back 9 to win the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on a rollercoaster final day.
The Offaly man had led the tournament since matching the course record on Wednesday but he found himself three behind South African Richard Sterne with nine holes to go in the final round.
However the Clara golfer showed true grit down the back nine birdying 12 and 13 before holing some key par putts to go down the 18th all square.
After hitting the fairway with his drive, he hit a terrific second shot to the heart of the par 5. With his opponent in trouble, Lowry had two putts to win and he delivered to claim a victory that will launch him back into the Top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
