Kevin Keyes signs for new team ahead of 2019 British Superbike season

Edenderry motorcycle star Kevin Keyes has moved to G&S Racing Kawasaki for the 2019 season after a strong 2018 in the BSB Superstock 600 racing series.

Keyes had been talking to various teams during the off-season but has now signed on the dotted line to ride G&S Racing's brand new Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 motorbike this season.

After initial contact with Team owner Mark Fisher some weeks ago, Kevin and his father Ron travelled over to the UK to meet the team after Christmas.

This signing will see the Edenderry native get on the new Kawasaki, with full technical and mechanical support from the team. A welcome addition is that G&S Racing are the only Superstock team to get full support from Kawasaki UK’s Racing division, 'Team Green.

Afterwards, Kevin told us, "I am super excited to be joining G&S Racing Kawasaki and can’t thank Mark, Kay and Tom Fisher enough for this amazing opportunity."

"I am very excited to be riding the brand new G&S Racing Kawasaki 636. I cannot wait to get to Spain for our first official test as a team."

“For 2019, I am going to be trying my very best to challenge for the championship and with our package this year I’m confident we won't be far away.”

Team Manager Mark Fisher said: “I am delighted to welcome Kevin to our team. He is a fast and competitive rider as proved with his results in 2018 and with the arrival of the new Kawasaki 636 I am sure he will be up there battling for race wins."

Keyes is now preparing for the start of the new BSB Pirelli National Superstock 600 championship.

The Kevin Keyes Supporters Club are now also working on their next fundraiser to be held in the Carbury GAA centre. A night of great music from wonderful band “The Druids” is planned. Tickets will be available soon costing just €10.

Also on the night, a brilliant raffle for a Honda Fireblade motorbike will take place, tickets and ticket cost will also be available soon.
