This club's post shows how up a serious problem with the underage hurling championships in Offaly

We are now into November, temperatures have fallen below zero, there is frost on the ground and there is another Atlantic Storm on the way and despite a record setting summer in terms of temperatures, many Offaly juvenile hurling championships and leagues are still going on in far less than ideal conditions.

This post from Birr GAA Club showing their upcoming fixtures begins to show how many important games have yet to be played across the underage grades.

However while the U-17 A Hurling Final is now fixed, quarter finals still have to be played in the U-17 Hurling Championship Shield with the possibility that the Final in this Championship might not be played until December. A quarter-final between Drumcullen/Clareen and Ballinamere/Durrow is fixed for November 10.

Meanwhile the U-15 Hurling Shield Semi Finals will take place under lights in Faithful Fields next Wednesday. The second of those games is fixed for 8pm where temperatures could well already have dipped below freezing.
