Offaly golfer Shane Lowry has secured second spot at a rain-affected Andalucia Valderrama Masters in Spain.
The Clara man shot a stunning final round of 66, which he completed on Monday morning after rain halted play at various stages over the weekend.
Lowry was chasing tournament host and major winner Sergio Garcia who had established a sizeable lead heading into Monday's extended period of play.
Due to the weather conditions, the tournament was reduced to three rounds, with Shane recording a 69 in his first round and a solid 70 in his second.
He rifled through his final round like a man on a mission picking up birdies at the 4th, 5th and 7th holes before the turn. On the Back 9, he continued his fine form with further birdies on 10, 11 and 12, before a double-bogey on 15 dented his ambitions to catch Garcia.
Lowry finished in the ascendancy with a birdie on the last to record a five under par final round of 66, giving him second place on his own and an overall score of eight under par, four behind winner Sergio Garcia.
