Offaly golfer Shane Lowry picked up a cheque for a cool €80,000 after finishing in a share of 15th place at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth on Sunday.
The Clara man played well over the weekend, following his rounds of 69 and 71 with two rounds of 70 to finish on a score of eight under par at one of his favourite courses.
While he couldn't keep pace with the eventual winner, Francesco Molinari (17 under par), Lowry played solidly and visibly happier on course than in recent tournaments.
He was too far back to get into th ereckoning on Sunday, but he quietly went about his business, kicking off his final round with two birdies on the third and fourth holes.
Three bogeys followed to put an end to Top 10 ambitions, but Shane came back with a birdie on 10 and 13, and a fantastic eagle on the 18th to sign for a round of 70.
Lowry is hoping this performance will kickstart his season after a slow start on the PGA Tour.
