Shane Lowry still in the hunt at BMW PGA Championship
Offaly's Shane Lowry remains within the Top 20 at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth after shooting a one under par second round of 71.
Despite Rory McIlroy racing into a commanding lead at 12 under par, Lowry is still in contention, at least for a Top 10 finish, after adding to his first round of 69.
Lowry made an identical start to Thursday on Friday morning with two birdies inside the first four holes. He bogeyed the 7th to make the turn at four under for the tournament.
He made a steady start to the Back 9 with two pars while a birdie on 12 saw him briefly hit five under once more. The birdie opportunities dried up as the Clara man struggled around the greens and a bogey on 15 and three straight pars to the finish saw him sign for a 71.
He will be around for the weekend hoping to finish inside the Top 10 for the second year in a row.
