Offaly Camogie gears up for Leinster final clash with Kilkenny

Offaly's senior camogie panel are putting the final touches to their preparations for the much anticipated Leinster final clash with Kilkenny.

The game takes places at 4pm on Saturday, May 26, at St. Brendan's Park in Birr with Mike Wall's team hoping that home advantage will swing the balance of the tie in their favour.

Offaly come into the game after a somewhat unusual route to the final. Their quarter-final didn't go ahead as their opponents Kildare chose to concede the contest.

From there, however, Offaly faced into a daunting away semi-final clash with Dublin. Travelling to Parnells GAA Club in Coolock earlier this month, the Faithful Ladies came out on top of a tremendous battle on a 1-14 to 2-8 scoreline.

Kilkenny pose a huge threat to Offaly's hopes of Leinster glory having scored 11 goals and 33 points in their two games en route to the final.

They brushed aside the challenge of Laois in the quarter-final on a 6-20 to 1-7 scoreline, and followed that with an equally impressive 5-13 to 0-12 win over Wexford in the semi-final.

Kilkenny go into the game as favourite but with the likes of captain Arlen Watkins and Michaela Morkan adding huge experience to a very tight Offaly group, the Faithful will be hoping for the upset in Birr.
