A contingent of 60 boxers and their coaches from Norway have landed and made their way to Edenderry this week for a sparring camp.

They are being hosted by Liam Brereton at the St. Brigid's Boxing Club and will stay in the town to train until Sunday, May 6.

The arrival includes 39 boxers of all ages, from 11 to 40 years of age, seven coaches, 12 parents and the Secretary General of the Norwegian Boxing Federation.

St. Brigid's coach Liam Brereton said it is fantastic for "a little town like Edenderry to attract these international teams." Last year, the town hosted teams from all over the world, including India, Canada and France for a week-long training camp.

Liam also told us that a number of elite boxers from Norway will be staying in Edenderry for three weeks prior to their involvement at the upcoming European Elite Championships.
