Almost €1 million in funding on the way to Offaly sports clubs

Offaly sports clubs are set to receive €984,496 in funding from the Sports Capital Grants, it was announced yesterday by Minister of State with special responsibility for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin and Shane Ross, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport.

The funding will help with maintenance and upgrade works, furthering the ability of these clubs to deliver high quality sports facilities and activity to towns and villages across Offaly.

The single biggest award was given to Edenderry GAA which received €102,000. The second largest injection also went to Edenderry with St. Brigid's Boxing Club receiving €91,500.

There were also substantial funding amounts awarded to Birr Golf Club, Ballinamere GAA Club, Cappincur GAA and the Irish Parachute Club in Clonbullogue.
