Double soccer success for Offaly primary school pupils

ST Colman’s NS Mucklagh had double success recently in the Spar FAI primary schools 5- a-side competition with both the boys and the girls teams winning the Offaly title in the B school category.

Both teams progressed to the South Leinster round which took place in Kilcullen, Co Kildare on April 30 accompanied by their teachers Keith O’Connor, Claire McIntyre, Oisin Keenan Martin Hilary Frances alongside a band of enthusiastic parent supporters.

The hot conditions of the day did not affect the teams performance and both teams performed excellently.

The girls team won their three matches against schools from Killeshin, Leixlip and Blessington respectively and have progressed to the Leinster final on May 14 in Dublin. They were presented with their South Leinster medals.

The boys were extremely unlucky to lose out on penalties in their last game but received well deserved runners-up medals.
