The Offaly Senior Camogie team set off on the All Ireland trail this Saturday when they welcome Galway to Banagher for a game that throws in at 2.30pm.

John Troy’s team struggled in the league but they laid down a marker in the Leinster Championship with an historic win over Kilkenny at the semi-final before pushing defending All Ireland Champions Wexford all the way in the provincial final.

That sets them up well for the All Ireland Series where they will play four group games against Galway, Cork, Tipperary and Dublin. While Cork and Galway will be difficult games to win, Offaly will fancy their chances against Tipperary and Dublin.

The championship is split into two groups playing cris-cross meaning Offaly will need to out perform Wexford, Kilkenny and Clare in their quartet of games. The top team in each group reaches the semi-final with the runners up guaranteed a quarter-final place. Third and fourth in each group play off for the remaining quarter final spots.

Offaly go into the championship without Michaela Morkan and her absence will be a blow however the confidence gained in the Leinster Championship will stand to the side as they look to move further up the camogie rankings.

The Offaly U-16 team is also in action this weekend on Sunday in Birr in the All Ireland Series.
