The Offaly Senior footballers will ply their trade in Division 4 next season after suffering defeat at the hands of Tipperary in Clonmel on Sunady.

Offaly needed a win and they needed Antrim to beat Cavan to stay up and while the Saffron County did them a favour, Offaly were unable to hold up their end of the bargin.

A three goal blitz after half-time put Antrim on course for an easy win in Breffni Park and at the same time Offaly were only two points adrift of Tipperary having kicked ten wides into the teeth of the wind.

With the game and their status in Division 3 status their for the taking an understrength and inexperienced Offaly simply couldn’t get their game together as Tipperary picked off scores at their ease to register their first win of the league campaign leaving Offaly bottom of the division with just one win from seven games.

Offaly now have a two month break ahead of their Leinster Championship opener with Kildare who gained promotion to Division 1 last weekend thanks to a late penalty from Johnny Doyle.
