Few volunteers for positions on County Board Executive

Despite the furore that surrounded the delay in the appointment of Offaly Senior Managers and the subsequent backlash against the top table of the County Board, the process of electing a new Offaly County Board Executive for 2012 will not take long at this Thursday’s Convention as at most there will be votes for only two of the positions.

Pat Teehan will be returned unoppossed as Chairman as will Padraig Boland as Vice Chairperson. Depending on if the three nominees allow their names go forward, there could be a vote for Secretary with outgoing Martin Boland of Raheen, Tommy Byrne of Gracefield and Johnny Dooher of Birr currently in the running.

Tommy Byrne is the only nominee for Assistant Secretary while it is a similar story at Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, PRO, Central Council Delegate, Leinster Council Representatives, Development Officer and Irish Officer where the incumbent is the only nominee in each case.

The only other potential contest is for Coaching Officer where outgoing Mary Dunne is nominted along with Ballinamere’s Pat Cleary and Durrow’s John Hughes.
