RHODE regained the Offaly Ladies Senior Football title on Sunday at the end of an attritional battle against old rivals Edenderry in O’Connor Park.
In a game dominated by the respective defences, Rhode were that bit more clinical in attack with the decisive score being a superbly struck penalty from Mary Grogan eight minute into the second-half. In saying that Rhode hit 12 wides over the hour and they were also helped by the fact that the wind they played with in the frist-half all but disappeared after the break.
In saying that, Edenderry had their chances to win the game but a combination of the woodwork and some fine saves from Leanne Galvin kept the Rhode goal intact which was a key factor in the eventual outcome of the game. Edenderry only managed two points from play which was never going to be enough to win a county final.
