Offaly-based ‘The Moving Thread’ brings textile creativity to communities

An Offaly-based initiative, “The Moving Thread” is a mobile visual arts programme designed to foster creativity, self-expression and a sense of belonging through immersive textile workshops.
Through its workshops, “The Moving Thread” encourages participants to explore ideas through art while developing practical skills in textiles and painting.
A strong emphasis is placed on collaboration, with participants working together on creative projects and sharing and celebrating their achievements.
Each workshop is tailored to the specific needs of the group, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment where creativity can flourish.
The workshops are designed to build confidence and encourage participants to express their ideas creatively.
They also help develop practical skills, with participants gaining hands-on experience, creating tangible pieces of work and developing skills they can continue to use beyond the programme.
“The Moving Thread” offers a range of programme options, including one-day taster workshops, as well as four-week and eight-week courses.
