Former Tullamore player Aoife Dalton in action for Ireland against Japan in the womens' World Cup
Tullamore Rugby Club is throwing its gates open with an exciting Minis Tag Rugby Blitz on Sunday September 7th at 10am in Tullamore Rugby Club - Spollenstown. This is a fantastic opportunity for boys and girls aged from 6 to 12 to experience the joy of rugby in a fun, safe, and friendly environment.
Tag rugby is the perfect introduction to the sport. It’s a non-contact version of rugby where, instead of tackling, players "tag" their opponents by pulling a velcro tag from a belt they wear. This means no big bumps, just a lot of running, passing, and teamwork! It's all about having a laugh, making new friends, and learning some brilliant skills like catching, passing, and evasion.
The mini coaches will be on hand to guide the kids through some fun drills and games before they get to put their skills to the test in the blitz. It's not about winning or losing; it's about participation and having a brilliant time. We believe rugby is a sport for everyone, and our blitz is designed to show just how welcoming and inclusive the Tullamore RFC family is.
No previous experience is needed—whether your child has played before or has never held a rugby ball, they are all welcome. We’ll provide all the equipment, so just bring them down in their boots and with a bottle of water.
This event is not just for the kids; it's a great chance for parents to come down, see our fantastic facilities, meet the coaches and other families, and learn more about what we do at Tullamore RFC. We have a thriving Minis section and are always looking for new members to join our community.
