PICTURES: Sun shines for Roscrea SPCA's milestone Dog Show

Roscrea Rugby Club played host to a wonderful day of fun, fur and community spirit as Roscrea SPCA held their annual summer dog show in glorious sunshine.

Dog owners and animal lovers from near and far turned out in force, with entrants of every shape and size taking part in a variety of classes on the day.

The show was opened by Fr Lorcan blessing the animals and the bright weather set the perfect backdrop for what proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable event for two- and four-legged participants alike.

A special mention must go to the generous local businesses who sponsored all of the prizes on offer, ensuring winners went home with well-earned rewards while helping to keep the event entry free of charge.

Their continued support is a testament to the strong bond between Roscrea SPCA and the wider community.

As with all Roscrea SPCA events, every cent raised on the day will go directly back into the care of the animals in the charity's care — covering everything from food and veterinary bills to shelter and rehoming costs.

This year's show carries extra significance, as it marks 30 years since Roscrea SPCA was first established. Three decades on, the organisation continues to be run entirely by volunteers, who give up their own time to rescue, care for and rehome animals in need across the locality and beyond.

Their dedication has helped countless animals find safe and loving homes over the years, and events like this dog show are vital in keeping that work going.

Roscrea SPCA would like to thank everyone who came along, entered their dogs, volunteered on the day, or simply stopped by to support the cause.

Roscrea SPCA are a community-driven group dedicated to the welfare of animals in Roscrea and the surrounding area.

They work to promote responsible pet ownership by encouraging neutering, microchipping, and vaccination, and run a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programme to humanely manage the local feral cat population.

They rely on the support of volunteers, donors, and the wider community to make this work possible, and would love to hear from you, whether you’d like to get involved, need advice, or want to support their efforts.

They also have a number of wonderful cats and dogs currently in their care who are looking for their forever homes.
