Shane Lowry in flying form on his return to European Tour
Shane Lowry made a flying return to competitive action on the European Tour today at the Portugal Masters, a tournament he won in 2012.
He is just one shot off the lead after his first round which he finished on seven under par. He was five under after ten holes and added four more birdies and two dropped shots on the back nine to card a round of 64.
He is in a tie for second place with Matt Wallace and Eddie Pepperel and is just one behind the leader, Australian Lucas Herbert.
The Offaly golfer is currently at 73rd on the Race to Dubai and he needs to make the Top 60 if he is to make it into the European Tour's season finale. If he maintains this form for the next three rounds, he will make substantial ground up the rankings.
