Offaly's Shane Lowry is well in contention after a two under par opening round of 70 at the European Tour's season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
He had four birdies and two bogeys in his round which sees him lie in a tie for 13th, four shots adrift of leader Lee Westwood.
Julien Quesne and Nicolas Colsaerts are a shot behind the Englishman on -5 after opening their rounds.
Lowry is best of the Irish with Padraig Harrington shooting level par while defending champion Rory McIlroy is three shots further back after and opening round of three over par.
