Tullamore Basketball Academy gets off to a great start

On Saturday last Tullamore Basketball Club held a fun jamboree coaching session in the SHS gym.

Over 50 girls from a variety of primary schools in the town and surrounds attended. They ranged in age from 8 to 10 and were coached in the fundamentals of basketball by a number of girls from the Tullamore girls U-14 team.

Many of the young girls showed great promise even at this early age and every girl seemed to enjoy it immensely. The future for girls basketball looks bright if these young girls are anything to go by.

With such a great interest shown the club intend to continue the coaching for the next ten weeks and hopefully arrange a games blitz later on in the year.

Next week’s session will take place in St Marys Hall. Tullamore BC would like to thank Basketball Ireland and Offaly Sports Partnership for their support in this iniative and particularly the Sacred Heart Secondary School and young coaches Aoife, Aoibheann, Emily, Chloe, Rachael and Rebecca.
