Laois Marlins continued on their winning ways at the weekend when all six of their participating ‘A’ Squad swimmers - Thomas Martin, Mathew Doyle, Eoin Donoghue, Conor Donoghue, Theresa Costello and Tyler Dolan - brought home medals from the Leinster Graded Gala held at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin.
Meanwhile, back home, week by week, all 60 club members, aged from six to 16, continue to improve their times and techniques when they meet for training at The Portlaoise Leisure Centre on Monday and Friday evenings (all Squads) and on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (A&B Squads).
“Spending time in the pool is what it’s all about, “said Club Chairman Kevin Bracken. “Not all of our members aspire to win medals, and as a club we make sure that the strengths of each individual swimmer are highlighted and are further developed.
“We firmly believe that the better the technique the more time a child will want to spend swimming, which in turn improves stamina, fitness and general good health,” he concluded.
