Day two of the Offaly County Cross Country championships was held on Sunday last in Charleville.

On a damp foggy morning, with mucky conditions following the heavy rain of recent days, 23 athletes lined up for the Offaly Intermediate competition which was followed later in the morning by the juvenile races.

First title of the day was won by Michelle Mullaney who ran a steady race from the start, with 2nd finisher Mary Bracken keeping close company for the 5000m. Silver Novice winner from last week, Charlotte Abbott, medalled again coming home in 3rd place.

The men’s race was run over 8000m and while the leading pack of Catch Grennan, Richie Galvin and Dave Fox weren’t eligible for medals due to having won the title in the past, they, along with Jason Donegan, provided an accommodating challenge for the eventual Intermediate winner Mike Murphy. 2nd place went to Jody O’Reilly who was in an unyielding battle with 3rd placed Eamon Henry, Novice winner of 2012 .
