BALLYROAN Abbeyleix & District AC in association with the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel hosted the inaugural Heart of Laois 10K on Sunday, May 27. Over 300 athletes competed in this challenging course, on what was undoubtedly the warmest day of the year.
With blazing sunshine and minimal winds, this tested even the most experienced athlete. 12 Tullamore Harriers athletes participated and despite the arduous conditions, respectable times were posted.
Pauline Curley was 2nd lady across the line in a time of 37mins. Michelle Mullaney was our other prize winner, earning 3rd in her age category and 7th female overall.

BOB HEFFERNAN 5K
The annual Bob Heffernan 5k race which is hosted by Na Fianna AC, Enfield was run on Tuesday last. This race always attracts a huge field of athletes and this year was no different with almost 400 runners lining up.
Tullamore Harriers had 10 athletes supporting the event and some fine times and personal bests were clocked. First home for Tullamore and in 7th place overall was Catch Grennan who put in a fine performance to cross the line in a time of 15.53.
Others to impress include Maire Triona Keane with a pb in a time of 18.05 and 4th lady overall. John Harkin who has been out of action for some time due to injury showed he is well on the way to recovery with a time of 16.53. Ray Martin too posted a pb with a 18.07 finish.

The ESB promoted BHAA beach race, was held on Tuesday last on Sandymount Strand. 243 competed in this popular event. John Todd finished in 40th place and was 1st O/60 in 18:58.
Irish Milers Club
Liam Brady came 9th in the 1,500m at the Irish Milers Club meet in Greystones on Saturday last (May 26) in a time of 4:08.60.
GOOD PERFORMANCES AT AAI GAMES
The AAI Games took place on Sunday last in Santry stadium. There was a big entry in the sprints and the races were graded. Larry O’Reilly ran an excellent race in his 200m to finish second in a great time of 22.63 seconds. He then rounded off a great day when he went on to win his 100m race with another excellent run of 11.38 seconds (wind 0.8m/s).
Liam Brady came close to his PB when he finished fifth in the 3,000m in 8:43.28. This followed a seventh place finish in the Dublin Graded meet in Irishtown stadium on Wednesday last where he ran 4:05.44 for the 1,500m.
Congratulations to Tullamore Harriers man, Mark Serviss who competed in one of the worlds most challenging Ironman events on Saturday, May 19. In extremely hot conditions he finished the 3.8k swim, 118k cycle and 42k run in a time of 11hrs 56mins. Well done Mark.
