Last Friday night, Midland Martial Arts centre welcomed Renshi Leeroy Blake, 4th Dan black belt, to give a very special Aikido seminar.

Renshi Leeroy Blake came over from England with his daughter Alexandra to teach a seminar in the Japanese martial art of Aikido.

The seminar drew a large crowd of martial artists – both children and adults - who came to take part in this very special master class.

Aikido involves throws and joint locks that are derived from Jujitsu and some throws and other techniques derived from Kenjutsu. Aikido focuses not on punching or kicking opponents, but rather on using their own energy to gain control of them or to throw them away from you.

The seminar was a huge success and it is hoped that Renshi Leeroy Blake will return again to the centre sometime in the near future.

Midlands Martial Arts and Training Centre is situated in the Tanyard, in the centre of Tullamore and offers classes for both adults and children in Ju-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Shotokan Karate, and Kendo.

Further information can be found on Facebook (Midlands Martial Arts Centre) or by calling the centre on 0877909365/ 0852386302.
