Edenderry Boxing club weighed in five boxers in the recent Michael Andrews Memorial Tournament held in the National Stadium in Dublin recently.
Darragh Daly was first into the ring in Boy 2 42Kg quarter final against Dean Clarke, Holy Family, Drogheda. Darragh was unlucky to be stopped by the referee in the second round.
Jack Farrell was next into the ring in Boy 2 57Kg against a very talented Brian Grace from New Ross, Wexford. Jack was beaten on all three judges scorecards.
On the Sunday morning the next Edenderry boxer in action was Joshua Browne in Boy 1 46Kg. He took on Michael Doyle of Cloghan and stopped him in the second round with some good body shots. Joshua was back in the ring the following Saturday boxing in the final against Brandon McGuire, St David’s, Naas. Josh put the pressure on from the start and won the bout on a 2-1 verdict.
Next in was Craig Mangan in the Boy 2 46Kg final against a very expeirenced Jamie Cullen from St Michaels, Athy with Craig losing out on a 3-0 decision.
Tristen O’Donovan got a walk over in the Boy 2 54Kg as their was no one in his weight. All boxers done the club proud.
