Tulalmore Squash club holds AGM

The AGM of Tullamore Squash Club was held on the Summer Finals Night at Clonamore House. Imelda Murray, Club Captain opened the meeting at 9pm.

The Club Secretary, Michelle Heraughty read the Minutes of the last AGM and they were signed off.

Then, Imelda Murray gave her report by briefly running through the events of the season, which began last September with an Open Night for new members wishing to join.

A handicap competition followed before the 1st league of the season, the Winter League, which brought the club up to Christmas.

After Christmas, they held another Open Night, another handicap competition, then the Spring League. To finish up the season, a Summer League was held for those who wished to extend the season.

She thanked her committee and all the helpers for their help and support during the season and encouraged as many as possible to continue playing throughout the summer months. In particular, she thanked Michelle who ran the Winter League and set out the Handicap competitions, Patrick for doing the Spring League and his help with the Summer League. She thanked Tom for keeping the money side in order, and for what he quietly does around the club.

The Treasurer, Tom Clarke then gave his report. This was followed by Presentations from the Summer League Competition. Niall Tormey’s team D consisting of Kei Meyer, Imelda Murray (sub) for Morgan Lee, Enda Kenny and Louise Lordan (sub for Jerome Scully) V Brian Daly’s Team F consisting of Seán McGlynn (sub for Robert Tormey), Carl Adams (sub for Ronan O’Meara), Irfan Qasim and Sheila McDermott. Niall’s team were the resounding winners on the night. Both teams were presented with vouchers from Clonamore House.

This was followed by Election of Officers for the next season 2012/2013. Michelle said that she would like to step down as Secretary. The following people were nominated to positions, Imelda as Club Captain, Tom remained as Treasurer, Mary Guest took up the role as Secretary, Breege Loftus as Fixtures Secretary. Imelda said she would continue as PRO and Social events are to be discussed at the beginning of the season.

Sheila McDermott and Patrick Martin remain as committee members with other members volunteering to come in and assist when necessary. A discussion ensued on the next season. A Round Robin is held every Friday evening in the club.

The AGM closed at approximately 10pm. Imelda thanked everyone for attending and for participating in the various events during the season because without players, there would be no leagues.
