National Gold for Grennan and Walsh at Masters Championships

successful meet with new records set in a number of races including the Men’s O45 100m (11.84) and O60 5k walk (31.50), Women’s O55 3000m (11.55.97) and 045 discuss (33.25m).

It was also a very successful competition for the home competitors with Tullamore Harriers athletes earning a big collection of medals.

Catch Grennan defended his title of National O40 1500m champion taking gold in a time of 4.24.73. In the same event, Jim Langan was second in the O70 category finishing in 6.41.69. This was one of three silver medals Jim collected on the day having also placed second in the 800m and 5000m events.

Johnny Feery put in a great performance to take bronze in the highly competitive 5000m O55 category which he ran in 18.06.14. Also running in the 5000m were Richie Faulker who placed 7th in the o40 age group; Dave Brophy who was 4th O45 and Liam Dunne was 5th O50.

Mary Walsh once again claimed gold in the women’s O65 group for the 200m sprint which she won in a time of 41.61.

In the field events there were medals for Tom Rafferty in the Shot Putt (3rd O45) and Javelin (3rd). Jim Dolan placed 6th in the Shot Putt in his O55 category and 5th in the 56lbs.

Frank Duffy 10 Mile

The latest race in the Dublin Marathon Race Series was the Frank Duffy 10 Mile which took place last Saturday.

The series is designed as a build-up to October’s Dublin City Marathon. Almost 4000 runners took part in the race which was held in the Phoenix Park.

John Todd finished second in the o60 age group in a time of 1.05.26 and club mate Andy O’Grady was 12th o55 in 1.14.34.


Tullamore Harriers Half Marathon

With the big race just a few days away anyone who has just to enter should do so via the Tullamore Harriers website As a large crowd is expected we would ask all club members to park in the Rugby Club car park to leave the Stadium car park free for visitors.
